MEET KAREN HOOD

For 48 years, Karen Hood has proudly called Midland County home. A devoted wife to her husband, Nick, and the mother of three sons and four grandchildren, Karen’s life has been shaped by faith, family, and community.
Karen began her public service career in the Midland County Tax Office in 1999, working her way from a part-time position to Assistant Chief Deputy before being elected Tax Assessor-Collector. Serving as Tax Assessor-Collector since 2014, she has led with a clear focus on fiscal responsibility and customer service. Under her direction, the office modernized its operations, introduced new technology to streamline services, expanded service windows, and strengthened employee training and certification. The result was a more efficient, professional, and transparent office that earned consistent praise from the public.
Karen has long been a trusted conservative leader in the Midland community. She has been an active member of the Midland County Republican Women since 2009, serving as president four times and holding multiple board positions. Additionally, she and her family have worshiped and served at Golf Course Road Church of Christ since 1981.
Now, Karen is ready to continue her service as Midland County Judge. She’s running to ensure county government remains efficient, transparent, and accountable – grounded in the same servant-hearted leadership that has defined her career and her life.
